Engineering Services Department

In our municipality, engineering plays a crucial role in ensuring the development and maintenance of public infrastructure. As part of the engineering department, I oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of vital systems and structures such as roads, bridges, water supply systems, sewage systems, and public buildings. Our work helps create safe, efficient, and sustainable environments for residents and businesses, ensuring that essential services run smoothly and the quality of life is consistently improved.

Responsibilities of Engineering Services Department in a Municipality

  1. Project Management Unit (PMU)
    • The Project Management Unit (PMU) oversees project planning, execution, and monitoring. It ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications. The unit communicates with the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) by submitting required documents. It is also responsible for applying for funding to support infrastructure development.

    • The Water Services Authority ensures compliance with water-related regulations and policies. It develops and implements policies to govern water services. The department ensures that water supply and sanitation services meet national standards and regulations.

    • The Operations and Maintenance unit is responsible for the upkeep and repair of infrastructure.
