SPEAKER, CLLR UMNTWANA S.O ZULU OFFICIATES SWORN IN OF NEW COUNCILLOR

On Thursday, the 25th of January 2024, the Speaker of Council in the Amajuba District Municipality, Cllr uMntwana S.O Zulu, officiated the sworn in of a new Councillor to represent the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Council. This follows the resignation of the then Councillor J.S Thusi of the DA.
Cllr E.S Kunene took his oath of office before the Speaker, the Magistrate, K. Gurlal, and the full Council.
New Councillors are required by law to swear or affirm their faithfulness and obedience to the Republic, the Constitution and Council before the Magistrate in a Council Meeting, or at any time by arrangement before the Speaker and the Magistrate in the Speaker’s Office.
Cllr uMntwana S.O Zulu together with the Mayor, Cllr uMntwana Ndabuko Zulu, welcomed Cllr E.S Kunene who can now participate in the official business of Council and wished him well in serving the people of the Amajuba District Municipality and upholding his sworn oath.
Cllr E.S Kunene was further elected as the Chairperson of the MPAC which was also a position held by the Councillor who tendered his resignation.
