“SIKHUPHULA IZINGA LEMFUNDO “MASS PRAYER FOR GRADE 12 CLASS OF 2023 A SUCCESS.
An
estimated 500 eager grade 12 students from various high schools under the Amajuba District circuit zealously converged, today 19 October 2023 for a high spirited pre-examination prayer session led by His Worship the Mayor, Cllr uMntwana Ndabuko Zulu at Siyamukela Secondary School in Madadeni.
The mass prayer for the grade 12 class of 2023 was in partnership with the District’s Ministry Council, together with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education.
Under the theme, “ Sikhuphula Izinga LeMfundo “ the mass prayer session served as an instrument of motivating and encouraging the grade 12 learners of Amajuba District to exceed that of the Grade 12 class of 2022, which achieved an 85% pass rate and secured the 3rd highest achieving district in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
The prayer session was further utilised to the fullest extent feasible, serving as platform to share with learners the significant strides the municipality had undertaken in ensuring that deserving learners in the district are recognised for their outstanding academic achievements through initiatives such as the Annual Amajuba District Matric Excellence Awards.
During his keynote address, the Mayor, Cllr uMntwana Ndabuko Zulu made reference to the effervescent 2022 top achiever from Phendukani High School, Ms Sinakhokonke Siyaya, whom he fondly known as “G.O.A.T” ( Greatest of All Time) alluding that she proven that the sky is the limit for those who strive for academic excellence.
“ Sinakhokonke is an exceptional example of
realising the dream for educational liberation that the great leaders of our soil, such as Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi fought so fervently to achieve.
Witnessing a young brilliant mind—especially one from our district receive a scholarship to study medicine at the University of Cape Town enthralled me much. I can only dream and pray that our class of 2023 will be motivated by her narrative. Remarked the Mayor.
In conclusion, as the class of 2023 will in the next 10 days commence with their final examinations, the mayor of Amajuba District Municipality, Cllr uMntwana Ndabuko would like to wish once again wish them well in their exams and is further optimistic that the region will retain its status as one of the best performing districts in the province.
