MILLION: RAND D1331 AND P233 ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPGRADE PROJECT LAUNCH IN AMAJUBA DISTRICT.
As part of accelerating service delivery, Cllr. M. E. Hlatshwayo, on behalf of his worship, the Mayor Cllr uMntwana Ndabuko Zulu accompanied the provincial delegation from the Department of Transport, Community Safety, and Liaison to officially introduce the contractor appointed to commerce with the construction of the first phase of the D1331 and P233 roads in eMadadeni
Ward 26.
The upgrade of both of these roads will see the communities benefiting with seamless access to surrounding schools, Madadeni Hospital, and other health facilities in the area.
Furthermore, the road upgrade is expected to create approximately 230 employment opportunities, and the project is also anticipated to empower emerging contractors in Newcastle Municipality wards 6, 26, and 31. The first phase of the project is estimated at R244,888,000.
Cllr. Hlatshwayo used this opportunity to applaud the Department of Transport, Community Safety, and Liaison for the project and stated that it will provide much-needed relief to the community of eMadadeni. Protests involving complaints about the condition of roads are anticipated to come to a halt.
