MAYOR CLLR uMntwana NDABUKO ZULU SUPPORTS OVER FORTY (40)EMERGING LOCAL FARMERS THROUGH THE GRAIN CROP PRODUCTION PROGRAM.

AMAJUBA-It was established through the Agricultural Development Plan that Amajuba District Municipality, has a huge potential for grain crops production, especially Yellow-Maize.
The soil, temperature and rainfall patterns provide for a conducive environment for yellow-maize production in the Amajuba District,
Corn is the oldest crop that the people of the district are accustomed to and understand more than any other crop. It has remained a crucial crop for both staple diets and animal feed and continues to play a significant role in terms of food security provision.
It is against this backdrop that the Honourable Mayor Cllr.uMntwana Ndabuko Zulu along-side the portfolio chairperson Cllr.Lihle Mthembu , Councillors and Senior officials from the Planning and Development Services handed over yellow seed crop to six (6) local emerging farming entities with a total of 41 beneficiaries on 17 January 2023.
The hand-over was successfully done through the Grain Crop Production programme which forms part of the IDP and Local Economic Development Strategy designed to assist emerging farmers in the district.
