DEPUTY MAYOR SUPPORTS QUALITAS ACADEMY'S ENTREPRENEUR DAY

The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Thembelihle Mthembu, today the 17th of October 2024 made a special visit to Qualitas Career Academy situated at Newcastle Central.
Qualitas Newcastle an accredited training provider registered with the Department of Education has been in existence since 1996.
This institution has had collaborative programmes with Amajuba District Municipality that seek to develop the youth. These include the skills programmes in carpentry, plumbing and New Venture Creation funded by the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) which saw 120 young people completing the above-mentioned skills courses.
There are other collaborate initiatives that are being considered to assist the youth with skills and work experience.
Today the students who are enrolled in this institution as part of the New Venture Creations got their skills tested through the Entrepreneur Day whereby they were challenged to come up with ideas, have marketing campaigns, do budgeting and costing and ultimately sell their products.
The Deputy Mayor who also had a chance to tour around the premises of the institution to be exposed to the type of trainings conducted committed to continue supporting this institution by canvassing for work experience opportunities particularly targeting companies that are awarded various tenders by the municipality.
