Amajuba District to host the 2020 KZN DSR SALGA Games

Amajuba District Municipality’s Council on the 5th February 2020 in its full Council endorsed the decision by the KwaZulu-Natal Government and KZN SALGA to host the 2020 KZN DSR SALGA Games. This follows an announcement by the MEC for Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, Ms Hlengiwe Mavimbela, during the Closing Ceremony of the 2019 KZN DSR SALGA Games hosted by Ethekwini Municipality. In this ceremony MEC Mavimbela officially announced that Amajuba District Municipality were considered as the host the 2020 edition of these games. It was then left to the leadership of the municipality to approve and accept the responsibility.

Following the presentation by Mr Sihle Ndlovu for KZN SALGA who clarified the roles of a hosting district and the kind of support they will be getting from KZN SALGA and the KZN government, the Amajuba District Municipality’s Council endorsed the decision earlier announced by MEC Mavimbela.

Plans will resume immediately to ensure that the Amajuba District Municipality will be ready to host these games. More efforts will be put to ensure that the sporting facilities are ready for athletes from all corners of the province. Sports federations and other interested formations will be involved to allow them to make they contributions on how best we can host these games.
